      attend的本意是指心里经常性地想着〔做〕某事,现代英语中主要用于表示“参加(会议、集会、典礼、婚礼、追悼会等)”,有时也指上学、听课、听报告等。它强调的是动作,即听或看,为正式书面用语。

      attend作“专心,注意”解时,多指对书本、图表、课业、命令、事物、事件等的注意。其后常接to。

      attend还可表示“伴随”,含“照顾”“陪伴”的意思,陪伴者处于从属地位,有时表示一种服务或礼貌、殷勤,有时表示跟在人或事物的后面而行。作“照顾”解时,主要指专职工作性质的照顾。
