      minority作“少数,小部分”解时,是集合名词,常用于单数形式。minority在句中作主语时,其谓语动词可用单数形式,也可用复数形式。

      minority作“少数民族”解时是可数集合名词,不能用来指少数民族中的某一个人,而指的是整个民族,因此minorities表示的是“几种少数民族”,而不是某一少数民族中的几个人。

      minority在句中可用作定语。
