      elect的基本意思是从多个有可能性的个体中选择一个作为采纳或接受的对象。着重选择的仔细和谨慎,含有抛弃未被选中者的意味。elect还可表示作出这种选择的“决定”。

      elect是及物动词,作“选举”解时,跟名词、代词作宾语,也可接动词不定式或“(to be/as)+ n. ”充当补足语的复合宾语。elect可用于被动结构。

      作“决定”讲时,则接动词不定式或that从句。
